Meta Platforms has acquired PlayAI, an AI startup specializing in natural-sounding voice technology. The entire PlayAI team will join Meta this week, focusing on advancing AI Characters, Meta AI, wearables, and audio content creation. The acquisition aligns with Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s 2025 strategy to prioritize AI development, including the establishment of Meta Superintelligence Labs. The move enhances Meta’s AI talent and technological capabilities across multiple innovative projects.
